It is the original equipment vehicle of select BMW vehicles. The tire offers exceptional all weather traction and road gripping ability in dry, wet and especially in winter weather. The 3D Variable Thickness Sipe Technology provides detailed siping design across the tread area, while the Helio compound features sunflower oil that provides additional edge and flexibility in wet and colder weather temperatures. The circumferential grooves avoid hydroplaning situations by eliminating water and slush from beneath the tire footprint. The combination of the 3D sipes, the special compound and hydroplaning resistance increases the year round driving safety. The tire is a run flat model, which means that its reinforced sidewalls temporarily support the weight of the vehicle and passengers even after the loss of air pressure. The tire can be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph after a puncture or other kind of damage makes the tire lose its air pressure. In this manner the tire prevents the driver from being stranded on the side of the road when a flat occurs. These tires are made with a heavier construction, which is why they cannot be used together with regular tires. They are usually recommended for use on vehicles that have no space for spare tires.
