OVERVIEW

The Kumho Solus KH16 (OE) is a touring all season tire manufactured for passenger and sport utility vehicles. It is the original equipment tire made to be mounted on select vehicles models.

The special dual tire compound and tread pattern enhance the tire’s road-gripping ability. The tire promotes excellent traction in dry, wet, and winter weather. The tread pattern features multi-siped, four circumferential grooves that actively avoid hydroplaning situations by eliminating water from below the tire footprint. The enhanced water and slush evacuation and first-rate all weather road gripping ability ensure great driving safety.

The model promotes a quiet and comfortable drive. The variable pitch tread block design decreases the road noise heard in the vehicle’s cabin. It generates a sound frequency that negates the road noise created while the tire is in motion. This significantly lowers the road noise levels heard by the passengers. The dual compound and ESCOT Technology work together to reduce road vibrations. The ESCOT Technology optimizes the casing shape, sidewall stiffness, and the tread’s contact with the road, which lowers the road vibrations, while the dual compound absorbs the remaining driving shock. The result is an enjoyable driving experience.

The tread’s enhanced road contact improves the steering responsiveness and accuracy, making the tire easier to control. The Cornering Lag Technology lowers the tire’s response time from when the steering wheel is turned to when the tire reacts, which boosts the tire’s controllability. The ESCOT Technology optimized the tire completely, upgrading its road contact to ensure a safer driving experience. The better road contact and controllability ensure quick and easy handling in all weather.

The Solus KH16 (OE) offers a longer-lasting tread life. The dual compound and the tread pattern evenly spread out the driving pressure across the tread area. This equal distribution of the forces of acceleration, cornering, and braking along the tread surface slows down the tread wear rate and prevents irregular wear patterns from forming. The increased even wear extends the tire’s usability and tread life.

Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
